Bus service off to flying start!

Good news travels fast!

A lot of people were already queuing at bus stops on Saturday to take advantage of free rides for the day on our splendid ecobus. HRG Cllr Donna Crook was on board from the start, handing out copies of the new timetable. Passengers on the 10:05 to Townlands Hospital, however, were taken by surprise when the bus circled the Town Hall and stopped in the Town Square for a brief inauguration ceremony.

Cllr Stefan Gawrysiak, whose commitment to this new service made it happen, was unfortunately ill and missed the short ceremony. Our MP, clearly recognising the value of the service to the community and the hard work of both Stefan and of Cllr Donna Crook, stepped in and cut the ribbon, while Stefan’s HRG colleagues gathered around.

By lunchtime, the new extended service was already being praised with comments such as “This is what the town really needs” and “That’s what the Council is all about” being heard around the town.

So do YOU really need to drive into Henley? It’s less fuss on the ecobus!!!
