David Clenshaw (South Ward)
I am a retired Solicitor. I was born in Oxfordshire and have lived in the Henley area for over 25 years. I am a Director of the Henley Partnership, Chairman of its Environmental Group and also the Partnership’s representative on the Town Council Traffic and Litter Liaison Committees. I volunteer at the Oxfam bookshop. I am an active member of the Henley Society, having been the Vice Chairman and currently I serve on the Planning Committee. For many years, I worked as a specialist in criminal law and thus have an interest in law and order and policing, which will help my work on the Town Council.
I recognise that parking can be an issue for those who have little choice but to use the car – especially for senior citizens of the town and visitors to Henley – vital for a flourishing economy. South Oxfordshire District Council owns the central car parks and seems to think that Henley will continue to pay everincreasing charges. I will support keeping car parking tariffs at a reasonable level and will also support the creation of extra parking spaces where possible. Henley is a very special town – we have to work together to preserve both its beauty and its sense of community.
