David Eggleton (North Ward)
I am a local man, husband and father of 5, four girls and a boy, my eldest son and daughter are parents themselves which makes me a granddad too! My youngest three children Lily and our twins Poppy and Daisy currently attend Sacred Heart School although come September Lily will be off to Gillotts! I am also a step-dad to three grown lads and step-granddad to two boys and a girl.
I have lived in Henley more or less my entire 56 years and have lived on the Gainsborough Estate for the last 22 years. I am the co-founder and chair of the Gainsborough Residents Association, this was set up to improve the estate and surrounding area, as a group we have made some fantastic changes and there are plenty more in the pipeline, SODC and Henley Town Council have been extremely supportive and have helped us achieve our goals thus far.
Last year I was lucky enough to be on the Henley in Bloom panel of judges and I am currently involved in the It’s Your Neighbourhood scheme and a member of Gardening Buddies.
I am self employed and run a house clearance and removals business in and around the Henley area, I am self taught in furniture restoration and have extensive knowledge of antiques and collectibles.
For many years I have been a part time actor and have been in many popular soaps as well as documentaries, dramas, comedy shows and films.
Having been a resident of Henley for many, many years I have seen a lot of changes, some for the good and some not so, I am not especially an educated man but if something needs doing I will try my hardest to get it done, I feel my input would be beneficial to HRG as I am wholly ‘for the people’….Henley’s version of Citizen Smith if you like!
Politically wise I have no leanings, too much red tape and hot air! Henley residents are a varied mixture of people and should I be chosen as an HRG councillor I will do my utmost to work with these residents to help build a better town and community for everyone.
