Council Tax 2018

COUNCIL TAX RISES – MAY 2018Money to illustrate council tax in Henley on Thames

WHAT ARE THE FACTS?

Last year the HRG led Town Council maintained the value of the precept – the proportion of council tax paid directly to the town, by £6.09 per year (12p a week for a Band D Household).

The Conservative controlled County and District Councils increased the tax by a total of £85.60. Indeed the County Council raised the tax but cut services – including support for PCSOs.

The Town Council raised the tax at the same level as inflation to maintain some of the services which would have been otherwise lost due to County cuts.

How does Henley compare with other South Oxfordshire towns?

Thame………… 150.44
Chinnor……….. 120.36
Wallingford…… 117.18
Watlington…. …109.59
Didcot…….…… 106.53
Henley…………   93.09

Despite covering cuts by the Conservative led County and District Councils, our council tax remains the lowest of any town in South Oxfordshire.

Keeping Henley special is our only concern.
