Stefan Gawrysiak – Candidate for Henley Town Council

Stefan Gawrysiak

Lived and worked in Henley for over 30 years. Henley’s Town, District and County Councillor. Mayor of Henley 2013/14.

I was the Assistant Head Teacher at Gillotts School, where I was teaching for 30 years. I am a recently retired governor of Badgemore School, on the committee of the Henley Show, a member of Henley Bridge Rotary Club – the organisers of the Henley Half marathon which has raised over £800,000 for local charities and organisations.

HRG is independent of national party politics and speaks as the independent voice for Henley, which is why I became involved a decade ago. Together, we have always put Henley first. I was recently successful in getting £100,000 into the SODC budget for air quality measures and have submitted a plan of action for Henley to achieve better air quality results.

I am particularly proud of my work securing our community eco-bus, which is now a Monday to Saturday service. As your County Councillor, I have achieved a 20 mph zone for the centre of Henley, overseen 1000 pothole repairs and for the first time in 15 years, we will achieve three new crossings in Henley!

My aims for the next four years are;

  • Continue to provide the improved bus service.
  • Look into all traffic management options using county connections.
  • Put REAL plans in motion for air quality improvements.
  • Make sure our roads & pavements are restored by contractors after works.
